Find the seller who has most of your wantlist
DiscoHunt ranks marketplace sellers by how many of the records you want they have for sale, so you can buy several records in one parcel and pay shipping once.
What it does
- Pick records from your wantlist or from your Discogs lists.
- Press Search. You see sellers ranked by how many of your records they have, and the cheapest set they could send.
- Filter by price, media and sleeve condition, where the seller ships from, seller rating, format and year.
- See near misses: copies that fail a filter by a small margin, for example one grade lower or 20% above your price. You choose how small the margin is on your profile.
- See at a glance if a copy is a good deal, compared with other copies of the same release, and if its price moved recently.
- See prices in your own currency. Rates are approximate.
How it works
- We only read your Discogs account. The only thing we add is items to your Discogs cart, when you press Transfer to Discogs.
- Discogs blocks requests from servers, so fresh listings come from your own Chrome. The Chrome extension asks Discogs for the listings when you press Search and sends them to our database.
- We store the listings, so the next search of the same records is fast, and show how old each listing is.
Your data
- Sign-in uses Discogs OAuth (the official Discogs login). We never see or store your Discogs password.
- The Discogs access token is stored encrypted.
- We store your wantlist, your lists, the records you ticked, your settings and the public part of your Discogs profile (name, avatar, counts).
- The extension holds no passwords and no Discogs tokens.
- To delete your account and your data, press Delete my account on your Profile page. Questions go through the Feedback page.
Limits you should know
- Listings can be out of date. Old ones have a red frame. Fresh data needs the Chrome extension.
- Prices in other currencies use approximate exchange rates.
- Discogs limits how fast anyone can ask it for data, so a big wantlist can take several minutes the first time.
- On a phone the app works with saved listings only; fresh prices need a computer with the extension.
Who made it
We are a team of music collectors and enthusiasts. Most of the time we hunt for new items on Discogs, eBay and other markets, but all of them have complications or missing features. Their owners don't build what we specifically want, so we decided to take the initiative, and here is discohunt.com. The current version solves one big problem of ours: shipping costs are high, and buying several items from one seller saves a lot. So here is the solution: /blades
